Long-Flight-Time Buoyant Drone
Overview
The goal of this project was to increase the flight time of a load-bearing drone. This work was completed in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). The project was originally called Long-Flight-Time Buoyant Drone and later shortened to Barone (a play on “balloon” + “drone”).
